We are dog owners (those are our dogs, Buck and Emma, in the header photo) so we understand how it can be a problem to get proper food for your pets when travelling.
For visitors to Duncan and the Cowichan Valley, we recommend Buckerfields, 4510 Trans-Canada Highway, for most dry pet food. Hours 8am-6pm Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm Sunday. Phone: (250)748-8171. Buckerfields has several locations in B.C. so sign up for their Frequent Buyer program which gives you a free bag of your preferred brand of pet food after a determined number of pet food purchases.
If you feed your dogs a meat diet, Cowichan Valley Meat Market, 5191 Koksilah Frontage Road (just off the Trans-Canada Highway, south of Duncan) is a very good source of hormone free meat. We get beef hearts for our dogs from Cowichan Valley Meat Market. Hours are 7:30am-6pm Monday-Sunday.
Another source for dogs on a raw meat diet is Buddy’s Natural Pet Food, 5980 Trans-Canada Highway.
